    NOTICE of BOARD OF REVIEW

    Village of Gays Mills

    Notice is hereby given that the Board of Review for the Village of Gays Mills shall hold its first meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Commerce Center Board Meeting Room, 16381 State Highway 131, Gays Mills, WI.  If necessary, additional dates will be used to reconvene said meeting, as determined by the Board.

    Please be advised of the following requirements:

    No person shall be allowed to appear before the Board of Review, to testify to the Board by telephone, or to contest the amount of any assessment of real or personal property if the person has refused a reasonable written request by certified mail of the Assessor to view such property.

    After the first meeting of the Board of Review and before the Board’s final adjournment, no person who is scheduled to appear before the Board of Review may contact, or provide information to, a member of the Board about the person’s objection except at a session of the Board.

    No person may appear before the Board of Review, testify to the Board by telephone, or contest the amount of any assessment unless, at least 48 hours before the first meeting of the Board or at least 48 hours before the objection is heard if the objection is allowed because the person has been granted a waiver of the 48-hour notice of an intent to file a written objection by appearing before the Board during the first two (2) hours of the meeting and showing good cause for failure to meet the 48-hour notice requirement and files a written objection, that person provides to the Clerk of the Board of Review notice as to whether the person will ask for removal of any Board members and, if so, which member will be removed and the person’s reasonable estimate of the length of time that the hearing will take.

    When appearing before the Board, the person shall specify, in writing, the person’s estimate of the value of the land and of the improvements that are the subject of the person’s objection and specify the information that the person used to arrive at that estimate.

    No person may appear before the Board of Review, testify to the Board by telephone or object to a valuation; if that valuation was made by the Assessor or the Objector using the income method; unless the person supplies to the Assessor all of the information about income and expenses, as specified in the manual under Section 73.03(2a), that the Assessor requests.  The Village shall provide by ordinance for the confidentiality of information about income and expenses that is provided to the Assessor under this paragraph and shall provide exemptions for persons using the information in the discharge of duties imposed by law or of the duties of their office or by order of a court.  The information that is provided under this paragraph, unless a court determines that it is inaccurate, is not subject to the right of inspection and copying under Wisconsin State Statutes 19.35(1).

    The Board shall hear upon oath, by telephone, all ill or disabled persons who present to the Board a letter from a physician, surgeon, or osteopath that confirms their illness or disability.  No other persons may testify by telephone.

    Anyone wishing to file an objection must contact the Village Clerk to complete and submit the required objection form supplied by the Village, prior to appearing before the Board of Review.  Objections will be scheduled to be heard by the Board in the order in which they are received by the Village Clerk.

  • Open Book April 20th

    NOTICE OF OPEN BOOK

    VILLAGE OF GAYS MILLS

    The Assessor will hold Open Book on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Commerce Center Board Meeting Room.  The purpose of Open Book is to give the taxpayers a chance to discuss his or her property assessment with the Village Assessor in a less formal setting than a Board of Review.

  • Spring Clean-Up April 25th

    GAYS MILLS RESIDENTS

    NOTICE OF SPRING CLEAN-UP & TIRE COLLECTION

    Saturday April 25, 2026

    8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    There will be a dumpster located at the Main Street Village Shop for spring clean-up.  Spring Clean-up items may include appliances, mattresses, furniture, etc.  No paint, recyclable items or yard waste. 

    Fee for electronics is $35.00

    A tire collection will also be held with a charge:

    $5.00 per car/pickup tire

    $10.00 per car/pickup tire with rim

    Larger Tires prices to be determined

  • Cemetery Clean-Up begins April 15th

    CEMETERY CLEAN-UP

    VILLAGE OF GAYS MILLS

    All flowers and memorials will be removed from the cemetery between April 15th and April 30th.  If you have items that you wish to keep, please have them removed before this time and can be replaced back on May 1st.

    Reminder of Gays Mills Village Ordinance 11-3-3 (15) No pets are allowed in the Cemetery.

  • Hydrant Flushing April 15th & 16th

    Notice

    Village of Gays Mills Residents

    Hydrants will be flushed throughout the Village on:

    South portion of Village to Well House – Wednesday, April 15th    

    (Downtown to Well House)

    North portion of Village to Well House – Thursday, April 16th

    (BAPI to Well House)

    Be aware that water discoloration may occur during this time.  You are advised to refrain from washing light colored clothes as iron and other minerals may be stirred up during this process and can cause staining and discoloration.

  • Yard Waste Pickup Begins April 6th

    GAYS MILLS RESIDENTS

    YARD WASTE pickup will begin on April 6TH and be picked up every Monday morning until fall. Yard waste includes leaves, weeds, garden trimmings, and other plant debris. Brush includes branches less than 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.  Please call the office for suggestions on larger brush/tree projects (brush truck availability). Yard waste must be placed at curb by 7 a.m. 

  • Accepting Donations – Chairs

    The village has purchased 200 banquet chairs, if you would like to make a donation to help with the cost, please drop off or mail your donation at 16381 State Highway 131, Ste. 1, Gays Mills, WI 54631

  • Lifeguard Applications

    The Village of Gays Mills is accepting applications for the following limited term employment positions for the 2026 summer swim season:   

    LifeguardsApplicants must have CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training. 

    Application forms can be picked up at the Village Office or call 608-735-4341 to have an application mailed or emailed (dmccann@gaysmills.gov). Applications also available at www.gaysmills.gov.  Applications are due in the Village Office by Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

    This position includes the following duties but are not limited to mowing, weed trimming, grounds and parks maintenance, and snow removal as well as other duties as assigned.  Must be able to operate all equipment and perform minor maintenance on such equipment.  One seasonal part-time position is available.
